Methadone is a medication used to help people reduce or quit heroin and other opiates. Anyone taking methadone to treat opioid addiction must receive the medication under the supervision of a physician. After a period of stability our clients may earn “take-homes” which will allow them to take their methadone home between program visits.
Buprenorphine is the active ingredient in products such as Suboxone, Subutex etc. It is used to help people reduce or quit their use of heroin or other opiates. Medications such as buprenorphine, in combination with counseling and behavioral therapies, provide the best approach to the treatment of opioid dependency.
VIVITROL® (naltrexone for extended-release injectable suspension) is a non-addictive, once-monthly treatment proven to prevent relapse in opioid dependent patients when used with counseling following detoxification.
